Great news for Bethany College students, alumni and those employers wanting to post jobs and internships with us! Bethany College has partnered with Handshake - a modern career development platform (ultimate career network for students).
To get started with Handshake, visit http://bethanywv.joinhandshake.com and follow these instructions:
1. Select "SIGN UP FOR AN ACCOUNT" under the yellow icon
2. Select the type of account that applies to you: STUDENT/ALUMNI, EMPLOYEE, or MENTOR
3. REGISTER A NEW ACCOUNT [If you are a current Bethany College student, first try logging on with your Bethany email. If this doesn't work, simply go back and "REGISTER A NEW ACCOUNT"]
4. You will receive an email confirming this
5. An email will then be automatically sent to the Bethany College Handshake administrator who will accept you
6. Once you've been verified and accepted, you can begin building your personal Handshake page!

How to I set up a profile?
You have two options to set up a profile. You can either manually complete your profile or upload a resume to auto fill fields (be sure to check for accuracy). Make sure all of your information is correct and accurate.
Employers can search by skill sets, so add skills to really stand out! In addition, you MUST have a profile and resume to apply for jobs. Be sure to also make it public so employers can find you! Having a completed profile will give you a targeted job list and a broader range of jobs.

If you need further assistance using Handshake, the Career and Professional Development Center would be glad to help. Depending on your situation, it can either be answered via e-mail, phone, or face-to-face appointment.
Handshake is also an excellent resource. For questions with the system, click on the support portal in the upper right-hand corner of the site. There’s also technical support within the system that you can access via “chat” to answer any questions you may have.
Their help desk provides great tutorials and answers to commonly asked questions.

- Click the “Documents” button in the upper-right to get to your Resumes page.
- Click the “New Document” button in the upper-right corner to create a new document.
- You will need to “Approve” your resume after it is uploaded.

- Click on Jobs in the left navigation bar.
- Enter your keywords, such as job title or major before you search.
- To sort job listings, click the "Default" button in the top right corner. Choose an option.
- To filter jobs see the left job bar. Here you can click on down arrows next to the description name and filter to get results you want.
