Offering internships in the following areas: Conservation/Environmental Studies, Science, Information Technology (Computer Science), Marketing/Business, Marketing (Photo editing/Production Assistant), Communications, MBA Finance, Policy, Government Relations, Audit, and Philanthropy.

Through the GLOBE (Growing Leaders on Behalf of the Environment) internship program, The Nature Conservancy hires students and recent college graduates to fill paid internship positions during a 10-week summer internship. This is a unique opportunity for students and recent graduates to bridge the gap between what is learned in the classroom and on-the-ground work in the world of conservation. Additionally, the GLOBE program provides interns with the chance to directly work toward a sustainable future for our planet on the side of the Conservancy, the world’s largest environmental organization.

This year we have 33 open internship positions and they are all posted at www.nature.org/careers.  Students may apply for more than one position.  To assist and pass on to students I have attached an overview along with some of the positions open.

Note:  These are paid summer internships!

Glade Run Lutheran Services (Glade Run) is located on 325 acres in rural
Zelienople, Pennsylvania, approximately 25 miles north of Pittsburgh. Founded in 1854 by William Passavant as The Orphan’s Home and Farm School, the organization has grown through the years to serve more than 2,400 unduplicated individuals on an annual basis in four different local offices.  Glade Run serves at-risk children ages 8 to 21 through residential treatment, group homes, and St. Stephen’s Lutheran Academy, our private licensed school. Children are referred to Glade Run from over 35 counties and 50 school districts throughout Pennsylvania.  Last year, 398 students were served in educational programs including 188 children in therapeutic classrooms in the Pittsburgh Public School system. In-community, outpatient services are provided to more than 1,800 individuals and families each year from our offices in Butler, Beaver Falls and Pittsburgh.

For the summer of 2012, The Adventures Program invited 3 interns to assist with summer camps and summer programming. Throughout the summer, at-risk youth were served from Pittsburgh and hosted a three week autism camp. Clients with a variety of other special needs, including MR and physical disabilities, also accessed their programming through  individual and large group activities.  Each intern assisted the animal, horticulture, and CSA activities; the goal of the CSA was to provide vocational training for the boys in the transitional unit, support local growers and producers who promote sustainable agriculture, and develop a stronger sense of community.
